I adore ballet; the lines, the pain behind the beauty, the sweat beneath the delicacy.
This project focuses particularly on one dancer, Chelsea who has that disheveled swan quality which I love.. a true ballet dancer
Another obsession of mine are dancer's feet. They are so much more than mere smooth, pretty feet but true landscapes of painful beauty. Though often reddened, veiny, sinewy and calloused, covered in bunions or corns, they inspire true beauty through their articulation, arches and insteps. They show the hard work which lies beneath the delicate steps. Encased in satin and ribbons they are lovely in a classic sense but convey so much more in their raw state.
