ROSANNA LYONS artist

After the last few years of isolation, like many people, I've rediscovered what matters most to me... for me that thing is home. And home is Ireland, in particular the countryside. This project started with a series of quick sketches and is developing into a series of paintings which will be added as completed. Many of the quick sketches were inspired by my home village of Johnswell in County Kilkenny. I was also inspired by scenes in Wicklow and Kerry. These drawings were done rapidly and come from my soul. The paintings go deeper. They feature the home of my ancestors which stands in a state of decay but also repair. It was a playhouse when I was a child where I baked scones in the Aga cooker and painted murals on the walls. We never really change who we truly are on the inside and I wanted to capture that simple pure attachment to home and what makes me who I am. I may live in San Francisco but I have to say that I will always be an Irish country girl...
